Georgetown College head volleyball coach Nick Griffin has announced that Alyssa Elmore (Pawnee, Ill./Parkland College) will continue her playing career for the Tigers in 2010.

Elmore, who will be a junior when she enrolls in the fall, helped Parkland College to back-to-back third place finishes at the NJCAA National Championships in 2008 and 2009.

Those memorable seasons also included two Mid-West Athletic Conference Championships, two Region XXIV Championships and a 78-19 overall record. Following the 2009 campaign, the 6-0 middle blocker received all-conference and all-region recognition after leading the Cobras in blocks and blocks per set as well as being among the team leaders in kills and hitting percentage.

"Alyssa comes from one of the most respected volleyball programs in the NJCAA. She has nice size, outstanding athleticism and plays a very physical game," commented Griffin. "Alyssa is also a fierce competitor who will bring tremendous experience to a young Georgetown team next year. We welcome her into the Georgetown family"

Alyssa, seen signing above, is an elementary education major. Her parents are Tony and Teresa Elmore, of Pawnee, Ill.
