Georgetown College men's and women's basketball teams suffered setbacks in their final road games of the season. On Senior Day in Columbia, the women Blue Raiders won 84-72 and the men used a 5-0 run in the final 1:16 for a 63-59 victory.
Both Tiger teams return home for a final home conference week Thursday against University of Rio Grande and then their own Senior Day on Saturday against West Virginia Tech.
The No. 8 men now have a one game-cushion heading into the final week as University of the Cumberlands kept itself in the regular season title race with a last second shot win over Shawnee State Saturday afternoon. The other team nipping at Georgetown's heels is St. Catharine and was not set to tip off against Campbellsville University until 8 p.m. Saturday night.
For the women, Georgetown still has a shot at finishing sixth in the conference. However, the scenario got a little tougher as Pikeville beat West Virginia Tech. The Tigers would need to win both games next week and have the Bears loss its only game next Saturday against University of Virginia at Wise.
Both teams would then have an 8-10 league standing and go to the tie-breaker system.
