Georgetown College men's basketball team wrapped up regular season road games Saturday with a tough match up in Columbia. Lindsey Wilson College (19-8, 10-6 Mid-South Conference) kept control of the game for much of the day, and used a 5-0 run in the final 1:16 to take a 63-59 win.
The No. 8 Tigers now have a one-game cushion in the race for the regular season title as University of the Cumberlands hit a last second shot for a 54-53 win over Shawnee State in Williamsburg. St. Catharine College, the other team in the hunt for the title started its Saturday game against Campbellsville University at 8 p.m.
Georgetown can wrap up the title by winning at least one game next week. The Tigers (24-4, 13-3 MSC) play University of Rio Grande Thursday, tip at 8 p.m., and West Virginia Tech Saturday, tip at 4 p.m. A win in either of those games means the best UC or SCC could hope for is a tie and Georgetown owns season series sweeps over both opponents.
Tyrone Shelley had another big day in the Black & Orange. The junior scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double. Vic Moses chipped in with 13 points for the only other Tiger in double figures.
Brandon Clemons, 16 points, Justin Archie, 15 points, and Chase Spreen, 13 points, led the charge for Lindsey Wilson.
