Georgetown College's softball team opened the William Carey tournament with a hard fought lost to the host, 2-0.

Preseason No. 3, the Lady Crusaders (19-1) scored one in the bottom of the first and bottom of the fourth, just enough to beat the Tigers (10-6).

Whitney Ealey, Hillary Plain and Chelsea Riney each got a hit to lead GC at the plate. Sophomore Katie Mann pitched six innings, scattering four hits with three walks and two strikeouts. She gave up only one earned run.

GC returned to action against No. 10 Oklahoma City University later Wednesday evening. The Tigers suffered a 5-0 set back when OCU exploded for four runs in the top of the fifth. Georgetown has three more games over the next two days in the William Carey tournament.
