Georgetown College men's tennis team did something that has not been done since 2002, defeat Lindsey Wilson.
The Tigers (3-8) played the Blue Raiders close in the tournament at Auburn Montgomery on March 12, but Tuesday afternoon on the home opener for LWC at its new tennis complex the Tigers edged them 5-4.
GC started off with two wins in the doubles as Benjamin Aspillaga and Jose Baeza defeated Andrews Muraes and Andre Santos and Gustavo Echeverria and Zach Thomas defeated Clinton Berry and Joe Cox, 9-8 (6) and 8-1.
Baeza, Thomas and Alec Lewis sealed the victory with wins in the singles. Baeza was down a set and his opponent serving for the match, when he broke back and rallied to even the match at a set apiece. He then defeated Victor Suez in the third set 6-3 for the 4-6, 7-6 (8), 6-3 win.
Lindsey won the No. 2 doubles match, while also taking the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches to make it interesting.
Georgetown has won three of its last four matches after dropping four straight at AUM.
