Georgetown College's softball team swept the Mid-South Conference weekly awards this past week.
Madelyn Brown was named Player of the Week, while Michelle Dresselhaus for the second time this year was named Pitcher of the Week.
Brown led the team with seven RBI this past week. She had two homeruns, including a three-run shot to deep right center field to break open the second game against West Virginia Tech.
Her slugging percentage was 1.300, while safely reaching at least once in all four of the Tigers (19-8, 12-0 MSC) games.
She currently ranks 18th in the conference in runs batted in and 19th in batting average. Brown is batting .339 for the season with 16 RBI.
Dresselhaus threw two one-hit, complete-game shutouts in winning her second weekly honor. The junior from Crestwood blanked UVA-Wise in a 6-0 win and then blanked Tech, 8-0 in a mercy-rule shortened game.
Dresselhaus tallied 10 strikeouts and walked just two batters in her 12 innings of work. She improved her record to 7-3 with a 2.21 earned run average, both marks rank fifth in the conference. She is third in the conference in opponent's batting average (.176) and strikeouts per nine innings (10.4).
