Mid-South Conference golf teams are playing in the MSC Spring Invitational match this Monday and Tuesday in Prestonsburg, Ky. at Stone Crest Golf Club.

After the first round, Georgetown College's men's team was in third out of nine teams and the women's team was fourth out of six teams.

 Christian Heavens was leading the surge for the men, tied for third with 76. Drew Hockensmith was tied for 12th with a 79. Dylan Underwood was tied for 19th with a 82.The final two scoring spots were Jon Hollan and Jordan Bell, who were both tied at 33rd with a 87.

As a team the Tigers shot a 324, 10 strokes back from Lindsey Wilson in second and 29 off the pace of University of the Cumberlands' 295.

The women shot a 390 in the opening round led by Marlene Nall, who was in 18th with a 94. Lauren Kohake was one-stroke back in 19th with a 95. Emily Drake was tied for 21st with a 98. Katie Jones shot a 103 for a tie for 26th. Deanna Johnson was sitting in 30th with a 109 as the last Tiger scoring.

Each team plays five players, but takes only the top four scores to get the team score.

Weather permitting the Tigers will try to finish the MSC Spring Invitational.

Next, GC hosts the Bluegrass Spring Classic at Cherry Blossom April 18 and 19. The men got to play in a fall classic there, but this will be the first home match of the year for the women.
