Mallory Johnson provided the fireworks and Michelle Dresselhaus proved to be as solid as she has all season as the Tigers took game one 3-2 over Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia Tuesday.

Johnson blasted a solo homerun to start the ninth inning, providing her pitcher all she needed for her 10th win of the season.

The Tigers (23-9, 16-1 MSC) came into the rain-soaked day one game behind LWC (35-5, 16-1 MSC).

Dresselhaus and Anyibell Ramirez, two of the league's best pitchers, did not disappoint in the first of the double bill.

GC's Dresselhaus allowed runs in the fifth and sixth, putting the Tigers behind 2-0 heading into their final at bat.

With one out, Jordan Clemons, Dresselhaus and Hillary Plain all ripped back-to-back-to-back doubles, tying the game at two all.

The game would stay that way until the top of the ninth when Johnson dug in for a solo homerun and a 3-2 advantage.

Dresselhaus then stepped back in the circle and finished the game. She walked the first batter, and got the next two out on a sacrifice bunt and a ground out that advanced Lauren Siebert from first to third. However, the junior pitcher did not wavier and struck out her 10th Blue Raider of the game to get the win. She scattered six hits over the nine innings and walked just three batters on her way to victory.

Ramirez threw eight innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and struck out 16 Tigers with one walk.
