Georgetown College's softball team dropped two in a row for the first time since the middle of March when the Tigers (25-12, 16-4 Mid-South Conference) played in the William Carey Invitational.
Since that point the team had reeled off a 15-3 record, but hit a road block Sunday against rival Campbellsville University.
CU (28-21, 18-6) pounded out six homeruns in the opening 10-2 loss. GC ace Michelle Dresselhaus did not make it past the second inning in her roughest outing of the season. The junior was 11-3 to that point in the season and almost averaging 10 strikeouts per game.
The GC Tigers battled back in game two and took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh. However, the CU Tigers got a run to tie it and then a run in the bottom of the eighth to take a 4-3 win.
GC returns to action Tuesday in a doubleheader with St. Catharine College. First pitch set for 4 p.m. The team also has a doubleheader with Asbury set for Thursday at 5 p.m. and again on Saturday against University of the Cumberlands with a noon start time.
