Todd McDaniel inked another six athletes for the 2011-12 season of cross country and track and field, including a set of twins.
Austin and Cody Crawley will be sprinters for the Tigers. McDaniel is counting on them in the 100-meter and 200-meter races as well as the 4x100-meter relay. The duo will also add depth to the field event participants in long jump.
Both were on their high school record-setting 4x100-meter relay team, finishing in a time of 44.11, while Austin also holds the record in long jump at 20-feet-10-inches.
"Austin and Cody will be a great addition to our growing group of sprinters," McDaniel said.
Also helping to shore up the field participants for the youthful coach are Christiaan Lee Tanner and Alex Hunt.
Lee will be a pole-vaulter with a personal best of 11-6.
"He will bring a lot to the track team," McDaniel said. "He will be working with Zachary Virgin, our senior pole-vaulter over the fall and winter to get ready for the spring season."
Hunt is a shot-putter with a person best of 42'.
"He is a great student-athlete loved by his coaches and teammates," McDaniel said. "He will bring a much needed depth to our throwing team. Alex will also be competing in javelin and hammer."
Two duel program athletes McDaniel signed for next year are Brad Cundiff and Jimmy Lacy.
Cundiff runs a 17:51 in the 5k.
"I am looking forward to working with him to get him ready for the 8k distance that he will be running," McDaniel said. "He has a great work ethic and will come in ready to work with the upperclassman."
McDaniel also likes the depth Cundiff can add to both programs and that he is was a high school teammate of current Tiger Mark Scout.
Lacy's work ethic was something that stuck out to the GC coach during recruiting.
"In this process of recruiting Jimmy, I just keep hearing what a hard worker he is and that I will get 100% commitment from him every day," McDaniel said. "He is ready for the challenge of competing at the next level."
With these six signees, this runs the rookie class to eight.
