Georgetown recruits for baseball and softball are finding success in KHSAA postseason play.
Baseball signee Tyler Arthur, of Lexington Catholic High School, helped the Knights reach the finals of the 11th Region Tournament at Whitaker Bank Park, while softball signee's Lauren Brockman and Cassidy Taylor, of Lafayette High School, helped the Lady Generals to an 11th Region Tournament title.
Arthur, coming back from mononucleosis, pitched a complete game win over Madison Central High School in the semifinals of the tournament. The senior allowed seven hits and struck out nine, walking three in the 8-3 victory.
Catholic faces Tates Creek in the all-Lexington finals.
Arthur staved off the Indians biggest threat in the fourth, when he recorded a strikeout to get out of a bases loaded jam.
In the softball tournament, Taylor pitched a complete-game shutout in a 10-0 mercy win over Henry Clay in the finals. Taylor allowed just one hit in the five innings. She also went 3-of-4 from the plate with an RBI double.
Brockman, who had multiple hits in the semifinals and ripped an RBI triple in the opening game against Franklin County.
Both players were named to the all-tournament team.
