Volleyball coach Nick Griffin brings in just his second recruiting class to Georgetown College, and it is one about which he is very excited. The third-year coach signed Rachel Eubanks, Stephanie Gurren, Caraline Maher and Allyson Wilbourn in the spring and summer of 2010. With almost a year passing since the last update on these four rookies, Griffin wanted to update Tiger fans about his 2015 class.
Preseason is less than 45 days away with the first matches schedule for Aug. 26 in Davenport, Iowa. Below is information on the four newest Tigers.
Eubanks: 6'0" - Outside Hitter - Cincinnati,
Ohio/Oak Hills H.S.
4-year starter at Oak Hills • 2010 Honorable Mention All-State • 3-time All-Greater Miami selection from 2008-2010 • 2-time 1st Team All-City (2009 & 2010) and 2008 2nd Team All-City • 2007 GMC Champions & 2009 Runner-Up • Named a Cincinnati Enquirer All-Star from 2008-2010 • 2009 & 2010 Lauren Breaux Tournament MVP • 2010 Team Co-MVP & 2009 Team MVP • Member of Team Z & NKJV volleyball clubs • MAVA Challenge Champions • Top 5 finishes at the 2010 JVA Mideast Power League and OVR Championships • Named a Soph79 by Prepvolleyball.com.
"Rachel is a very dynamic and powerful attacker who has the ability to play six rotations," Griffin said. "She has proven during both her high school and club careers that she can handle the pressure of being a team's go-to hitter. Rachel has the passion and the drive to be great."
Gurren: 5'2" - Setter - Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry H.S.
4-year starter at St. Henry • 2010 2nd Team All-State • 2010 Kentucky State Tournament Semifinalist • 2-time 1st Team All-Region and All-District (2009 & 2010) • 2-time Cincinnati Enquirer All-Star (2009 & 2010) • 2010 Region 9 Champions • 4 District Championships (2007-2010) and 2 Region Runner-Up finishes (2008-2009) • Member of NKYVC for 8 seasons • Qualified for 3 USAV Junior National Championships • Team captain for 6 straight years.
"Stephanie is a very talented setter with an extremely high volleyball IQ and a fierce competitive drive," Griffin said. "She makes everyone around her better, and hitters love playing for her. Stephanie is a coach's dream."
Maher: 6'0" - Middle
Hitter - Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak
4-year starter at Oak Hills · 2-time All-Greater Miami Conference (2009 & 2010) · 2010 Oak Hills Team Co-MVP · 2-time All-City selection 2009 & 2010 · 2-time GMC Academic All-Conference ·2010 Lauren Breaux Invitational All-Tournament Team · Member of Cincy Classics for 3 seasons and Team Z for 2 seasons · Qualified for the 2011 USAV Junior National Championships · 2 Top 10 finishes at the JVDA National Championships in 2007 & 2009 · Finished Top 10 at the JVA Mideast Power League in 2010 and 2011.
"Caraline's strengths as a middle hitter complement our offensive and defensive systems perfectly," Griffin said. "She jumps well, has great lateral speed and is a tremendous attacker off one foot. I look for her to thrive here at Georgetown."

"Elite teams at the college level have dominant attackers at the antennas, and Ally has all the tools and ability to be that force on the right side," Griffin said. "She has excelled at the highest levels of prep volleyball, matching up against some of the top players in the country."
