Georgetown College's volleyball and women's basketball team earned NAIA team scholar awards recently. A record 934 teams earned a collective 3.0 grade point average or higher this year, besting this past year's mark of 857.

The Tiger women's basketball team was two-hundredths of a point from being in the top 12 percent of schools that earned a 3.5. GC had a 3.48, a conference tying-high eight academic honorees and four national scholar honorees.

The basketball team also recently received the WBCA honor of being in the top 10 for women's basketball programs and only one of two Mid-South Conference teams on the list.

It was the second time the team made the NAIA Scholar list.

Volleyball's 3.25 GPA was supported by eight MSC All-Academic honorees and two NAIA Scholar Athletes, the most in either category for the conference.

This is the second time on the NAIA academic team list for the volleyball Tigers.
