Georgetown College's volleyball team's on-court success is often well documented. But, these ladies have been excelling in the classroom as well.
The 2010 team was named NAIA Scholar Team earlier this summer and recently received the same honor from the AVCA.
Scholastic achievement is nothing new for GC volleyball. Since 1989, the Tigers have had 35 NAIA Scholar Athletes - and 11 of those years they had two or more honorees.
In a six year span, 1988-1993, the Tigers had 20 NAIA District 32 Scholar Athletes and never had less than two in that time. The last two seasons in the KIAC, GC had six all-academic honorees - three a season; and since joining the Mid-South Conference in 1996 the Tigers have had 50 all-conference academic athletes, including a conference high eight this past season.
