Georgetown College volleyball battled hard against Malone University Friday night, but came up just short in the five-game match, 25-14, 22-25, 22-25, 25-18, 14-16.
The Tigers (1-4) hit the road for their second-straight weekend tournament. Taylor University and Indiana Wesleyan hosted a crossover tournament that brought in numerous NAIA national tournament contenders from a season ago.
Despite winning the first game handily, GC dropped the next two, hard-fought games by just three points each. Coach Nick Griffin's young squad rallied to level the match at two games apiece and force a fifth.
In a tight decisive game, though, the MU hung on for the 16-14 win to take the match.
Georgetown plays Indiana Wesleyan and Indiana Institute of Technology Saturday before opening at home Wednesday against conference foe St. Catharine.
