Georgetown College volleyball played two Top 25 teams Saturday and despite a great effort lost both matches.
No. 17 Indiana Institute of Technology won in three, 25-13, 25-21, 25-18; while No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan needed five to win 20-25, 25-27, 25-21, 25-23, 15-7 in the Taylor/Indiana Wesleyan Crossover Tournament.
The Tigers (1-6) started strong in their final match of the weekend, going up 2-0 in games on the ranked host. But, the Wildcats battled back for the victory.
"We played three tough opponents this weekend, which is what you have to do to be where we want to be at the end of the season," said GC coach Nick Griffin. "Our team made strides and are coming together. It is still early, and I know everyone wants to win but it is all about growing and learning against these teams."
Georgetown finally opens its home schedule 7 pm Wednesday as St. Catharine comes to town and then next weekend hosts the 3rd Annual Rumpke Invitational.
