Georgetown College volleyball swept its fifth opponent, and picked up its sixth straight win, in the past eight days with a 25-21, 25-13, 25-21 victory Tuesday evening at University of the Cumberlands. The Tigers improve to 7-6 on the season and 2-0 in Mid-South Conference play, and UC falls to 5-3 and 0-2.
As a team, GC recorded 40 kills - freshmen tandem Caraline Maher and Rachel Eubanks accounted for 20 of those. Maher had 12, which is the fourth time this season the rookie has tallied double-digit kills. Her career high through 13 matches is 13 against St. Ambrose in the season-opening tournament.
Senior Liz Goodin had 33 of the team's 40 assists, giving her 73 in conference play thus far. She is averaging 12.2 assists per game in league play.
Georgetown has swept both MSC opponents thus far and sits atop the West division. Right behind the Tigers is Lindsey Wilson College at 12-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The Blue Raiders come to town 7 pm Thursday night for a showdown in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
