Georgetown College volleyball came out with a mission
Tuesday against University of Rio Grande. The Tigers (8-8, 3-2 Mid-South
Conference) handed RedStorm (10-7, 3-1) their first loss in conference action,
25-11, 25-19, 25-21.
Senior Kelsey Luckett led a balanced attack with nine
kills. Liz Goodin and Allyson Wilbourn added six kills, while Caitlyn Kogge had
Goodin added 30 assists and eight digs on the night for
the senior setter from Louisville. Luckett led in digs as well with 12, while Rebekah
Moore added 11.
GC opened up and cruised in game one and despite some
back-and-forth action gained control early of game two as well. However, in
game three Rio pushed the Tigers. The RedStorm led most of the game and
Georgetown had to battle back for a 21-21 tie. At that point it was all GC,
finishing the same way the night started, a Kogge kill.
Georgetown returns to action 4:30 pm Saturday in a
Homecoming match against Asbury. An unveiling of the new locker room is
scheduled to happen immediately following the match.
