For the second time this season, Cathie Shaver earns Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The senior posted her fifth and sixth shutouts this past week in wins over Cumberland University and St. Catharine University. She is currently tied in the conference for most shutouts.

"It's nerve wrecking sometimes as the game winds down and the opposing team is taking a lot of shots," Shaver said of shutouts. "But, it is also very good for confidence building. With each shot saved, the defense and everyone gets more and more confident."

Shaver was also selected as Hockensmith Player of the Week for Georgetown College. She has 74 saves on the season, ranking her 45th nationally.

"She has been so solid back there for us this season," said GC coach Leah Crews Castleman. "I have seen her grow so much in her four years."

Castleman, also a goalie during her career at Georgetown, has been pleased with the maturation of her senior keeper. Shaver has stepped up more this year and with four regular season games left is fifth on the saves list behind Krista Shouse's 77. Castleman has two marks ahead of her current goalie, 81 and 116.
