Georgetown College's volleyball team hits the road and
comes up with a big season-ending, conference win against Campbellsville
University Tuesday. GC won 19-25, 28-26, 23-25, 25-18, 15-13.
"It was a good exclamation point to the end of the
season," said GC coach Nick Griffin. "It should be a good push into postseason
play for us."
Georgetown heads to Frankfort this weekend for the MSC
tournament, looking for its 12th title in 13 years.
The Tigers (18-16, 9-3) are the No. 3 seed and open noon Saturday
against Shawnee State (11-25, 5-6) in the quarterfinals.
With a win there, GC would then advance to the 6 pm
semifinal match between the Campbellsville-St. Catharine winner. The finals are
set for 2 pm Sunday.
Senior Kelsey Luckett led with 15 kills, but freshmen
Caraline Maher and Allyson Wilbourn each tallied 12 kills while hitting .381
and .344 respectively.
Maher earned MSC Hitter of the Week this past week for
her double-digit kill margin over the four matches in the Boneyard Brawl. Liz
Goodin, had eight kills and 43 assists Tuesday, was the MSC Setter of the Week.
