Georgetown College women's basketball improved to 3-0 and more importantly picked up a big road win Tuesday night. It was not until February this past season that the Tigers picked up a victory outside of Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. But, behind 17 points and eight rebounds from sophomore Andrea Howard, GC quickly erased those memories with a 71-59 win at Trevecca Nazarene University.
Devanny King tallied her third double-digit score with 14 points and Mikkah Rogers chipped in with 13 points. Devon Golden had nine points and Jessica Waddle seven to round out the Tiger starters. The Tiger defense again proved tenacious, holding its opponent to just 33 percent from the field.
The game was knotted at 26 at the break, but a 20-10 run out of the locker room gave GC all the breathing room it needed. The Tigers return home this weekend for the Chick-fil-A Classic. Games are 6 and 8 pm Friday and 2 and 4 pm Saturday. Georgetown plays Southern Polytechnic State Friday at 8 and Xavier University Louisiana Saturday at 4. XULA plays Indiana Wesleyan Friday in the early game, while Southern Poly meets IWU on Saturday.
