Georgetown College women's basketball team improved to 4-0 for the second straight season, following an 84-51 drumming of Southern Polytechnic State University in the Chick-fil-A Classic at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.

The Tigers opened a 20-9 cushion early as senior Jessica Waddle scorched the nets. But, the winless Runnin' Hornets (0-3) fought back to trail 25-21.

That is as close as they would get. GC responded with a 20-6 run to close the half and never look back.

For the second straight game, sophomore Andrea Howard led the charge. The Frankfort native dropped a career-high 21 points and recorded her first double-double with 10 rebounds.

Georgetown was a monster on the glass, winning the battle 64-44. Mikkah Rogers chipped in with 10 boards, five offensive.

Waddle finished with a career-high 20 points on seven-of-13 shooting, while fellow senior Gina Beining notched 13 points.

GC looks to stay undefeated Saturday with a 4 pm tip against Xavier University Louisiana. The Golden Nuggets (2-1) lost the opening game Friday 59-45 to Indiana Wesleyan University (3-0).

The Wildcats seemed in total control with a 36-13 halftime edge, but a feisty press gave XULA a fighting chance in the final 20 minutes.

IWU and SPSU start Saturday's action at 2 pm.
