History of the Rock
At the corner of the players' entrance to the field of Toyota Stadium stands The Rock, a symbol of the heralded tradition of Georgetown College football.

The Rock was extracted from the 50 yard line, "the heart" of Hinton Field, the Tigers home field prior to the construction of Toyota Stadium in 1997. Prior to taking the field for each game, the Tiger players touch The Rock as they pass, as sign of respect for tradition and unity.

The plaque which stands alongside The Rock reads as follows:

Over a hundred years of tradition lie on The Rock. The commitment of those who have stepped on The Rock before and after us, will live forever. The blood. The sweat. The tears. All for the purpose of brotherhood, honor and pride. These are the three soul ingredients that will remind us of who we are and what we stand for. These are the three ingredients that will set us apart from all the other families and stand us along together; as one.

As we remember The Rock and the memories that it has brought to our lives, let us not forget that the tradition and commitment to excellence will continue to live on. As will the brotherhood, the honor, and pride, which will be in the heart of every Tiger, every day, of every life.

Now, beware of the silent roar of a hungry pride of Tigers, because they have the heart of a Rock!
