Women's Lacrosse - Tue, Sep. 6, 2016

At the conclusion of its sophomore varsity season the Georgetown College women's lacrosse team returned home to Georgetown, Ky. with the NAIA National Invitational runner-up trophy. After graduating three seniors, including an All-American three-year captain and the NWLL National Defender of the Year, the Tigers had big cleats to fill in order to preserve a chance to again fight for the NAIA national title.

Coach Brandon Davis considers them filled and overflowing with the addition of 11 names to the 2016-17 roster.

Women's Lacrosse - Wed, Jul. 27, 2016

Georgetown College women's lacrosse team received another academic honor Wednesday afternoon. The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaching Association announced the 2015-16 Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads. The Tigers were one of only six NAIA programs to have tallied a team cumulative 3.0 grade point average or higher and one of 276 total among NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA teams.

"It speaks volumes to me when we are as successful as we are on the field and receiving accolades such as this," said GC coach Brandon Davis. "They have to work extra hard and be ever mindful of time and planning in order to excel in the classroom while playing a sport.

"I could not be prouder of my team and for the way they took care of business inside the classroom as well as on the field."

Georgetown College senior Bea Cameron caps off her stellar lacrosse season with one final accolade. The Lexington, Ky. native is the 2016 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association NAIA Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

IWLCA picks one player senior or graduate student from each level with a 3.5 grade point average or higher and they must be a starter or significant reserve.

Cameron posted a 3.53 with a psychology and environmental science double major. Athletically, she finished the year as National Women's Lacrosse League Defender of the Year and earned All-American status in the NWLL as well as NAIA.

Women's Lacrosse - Mon, May. 9, 2016

Georgetown College women's lacrosse displayed heart and resolve in its first national title game. The No. 2 Tigers (14-4) fell behind Davenport University (17-3) 9-5 early in the second half, but rallied to make the No. 4 Panthers sweat it out in the NAIA National Women's Lacrosse Invitational Tournament championship game. DU, which hosted the NWLL crown just a week earlier, held on for a 13-9 victory.

"We were tired, but we never stopped," said GC coach Brandon Davis. "It is that sort of drive that will propel us into the fall and hopefully right back here in the spring. These ladies continue to impress and reach goals way ahead of the curve, but it isn't surprising to me or anyone else that spends time around them.

"They are all hard workers and extremely driven. They've gotten a taste of playing for a title, I know that will spur them to be better next year."
