Taylor Shaver had his best season yet, helping Tiger men's soccer to five wins – the most in a season in his four years. The senior from Shelbyville, Ky. netted eight goals and is one of the top 32 players in the Mid-South Conference. His previous goal-high was seven in his sophomore year.

The league office announced the MSC All-Conference first and second teams Wednesday afternoon. Shaver was second team, and one of only nine forwards selected.

Georgetown College men's soccer saw its season come to an end Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference tournament. The Tigers (5-13-1) got behind early but continued to battle and cut the deficit in half before falling 4-1 in Campbellsville.

"We had a good season, especially inside our conference, and you hate to see it end this way," said GC coach Derek Willis. "I was proud of the guys all season for never giving up and that was true tonight as well. With roughly 10 minutes left we were a goal from tying it, but unlucky bounces salted the game away for Campbellsville."

Georgetown College men's and women's soccer teams both finished sixth in the Mid-South Conference this season, earning them both a quarterfinal tournament match up with Campbellsville University.

The doubleheader is slated for 5:30 and 8 pm Saturday in Campbellsville.

"It is nice to travel together and be able to support each other," said GC men's coach Derek Willis. "It doesn't happen that often in the postseason that we would both be playing the same team."

Both matches will be played at Citizen's Bank Field and Finley Stadium with live video streaming available here.

GC and CU played a doubleheader in Georgetown this season on Sept. 25. Campbellsville took the regular season head-to-head matchups, 2-0 in the women's and 3-1 in the men's.

Men's Soccer - Wed, Oct. 23, 2013

Georgetown College men's team continued to flex the defensive muscle against No. 3 Lindsey Wilson College Tuesday evening. The Tigers (5-9-1, 3-5 Mid-South Conference) could not generate offense in Columbia, Ky. but held the high-powered Blue Raiders to just two goals in the loss.

"When you play teams such as Lindsey or Rio, you have to be defensive minded and we have a great defense," said GC coach Derek Willis. "We would of course liked to have seen some of our opportunities produce a stronger offensive attack, but when you can hold the two teams in the conference that are ranked in the top five consistently to just four goals total that's great.

"Not only does it show how great defensively we are, but when it comes down to breaking ties and figuring out postseason seedings, goals against matter."
