Nick Gregory has had several offensive explosions at the right time for Georgetown College men's soccer. It continued Wednesday evening when he scored the tying and game-winning goal. He also assisted on a pair of goals. The Tigers (3-1) dominated for another big win, 5-2, over Brescia University.

The Bearcats struck first in the 13th minute. Gregory knotted it in the 27th minute and then just before halftime gave GC its first lead by assisting Cody Shackleford.

This appeared to be the game-winner at the time, but BU got a late goal that gave them two, making Gregory's goal from Noah Mills in the 71st minute the tally for victory.

Georgetown College men's soccer wrapped up its first week of action with a win over Bluffton University in the Centre College Invitational. The Tigers (2-1) Jordan Murdoch scored the winning goal, while Logan Blankenship picked up his first collegiate hat trick in the 5-1 win.

"I'm really happy how we bounced back after a lackluster performance Saturday," said GC coach Derek Willis. "The team worked hard as a group and got what they deserved from the game today."

Blankenship scored the first, third and fifth goals Sunday, giving him five goals on the season.

Logan Blankenship did not waste an opportunity. The sophomore got his first collegiate start and scored twice in a 3-1 win for the Georgetown College men's soccer team. The Tigers (1-0) defeated Freed-Hardeman University (0-1) Monday evening at Toyota Stadium.

He slipped through a pair of defenders off a beautiful set up from Jacob Curry, found himself one-on-one with the goalie and netted the shot low.

For a long time that appeared to be the game-winner. However, a foul in the box in the 60th minute gave the Lions life. Andrij Sawczuk scored past a diving Patrick Schwartz – who had a brilliant night with three saves including one off a rebound that appeared to be going in for sure as another tying goal.

Former Tiger will be remembered, honored Saturday

Louisville Metro Police officer Nick Rodman, a 2009 graduate of Georgetown College, died Wednesday, March 29, following a crash during an on-duty pursuit. The accident happened on Tuesday, March 28, at the intersection of North 26th and Duncan Streets in Louisville.

Rodman was married to Ashley (Stigall), also a 2009 graduate, and was a father of two. One child was just born this year. Rodman was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. A fundraiser to benefit the Rodman family is planned at the home spring soccer game noon Saturday at Toyota Stadium. Members of Pi Kappa Alpha will be assisting with the collection of funds, said GC women's soccer coach Leah Crews Castleman.
