Both days are mandatory if you want to be on the squad. Coach Vicki Stacy has set Saturday's cheer camp from 4-7 pm in the classroom of Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. Registration and team rules will be discussed during this session.
Sunday from 9 am-2 pm is the tryout portion of the weekend.
Georgetown College cheerleaders stormed back on the competition scene this past Sunday in Pikeville, Ky. After a year away from competing, the Tigers finished third out of five squads. The host Bears brought home the championship for the second year in a row, while Campbellsville University finished second.
GC was the only all-female squad in the competition. Rounding out the competition was University of the Cumberlands in fourth and Lindsey Wilson College fifth.
The Tigers also brought home several individual honors such as Freshman of the Year for Kaya Kelly. The LaGrange, Ky. native was selected based on her performance during the competition and is GC's first time winning a singular cheerleading honor since Kaitlin Johnson won MSC Cheerleader of the Year two years in a row. Kelly is also the first Tiger to ever earn this honor.
Tiger men interested in being a part of the competition cheerleading squad there is still time to join. First-year head coach Vicki Stacy is currently looking for strong guys that can help during various practices and the competition in February.
Stacy is also looking for anyone interested in being the mascot for the coming season.
If you are male and interested in either of these, please contact [email protected].
