Student-Athlete Inductees

George Baker

George was a staple at the point guard position in his time with Georgetown College men's basketball. He helped lead the team to a #1 overall ranking in the final NAIA poll of the 2001-02 season, and was a key piece of consecutive NAIA Fab Four appearances in the 2002-03 & 2003-04 seasons. He left Georgetown as the career leader in assists (625) and #2 in career steals (225). He later had a successful professional playing career in New Zealand.

Steve Hill

Steve was a key piece to the Georgetown College football offensive line from 1990-94. In 1991, Steve helped lead the Tigers to a 13-1 record and the NAIA National Championship. The 1991 team still holds school records for points per game (53.1) and total rushing yards in a season (4,039). In his playing career, Steve was named First Team All-Conference from 1991-1993 and was a NAIA First Team All-American in 1993. Since playing, Steve has stepped into a coaching role and has been on staff at Georgetown for 24 years. During that time, he has helped lead the Tigers to numerous conference titles and 2 more national championships in 2000 and 2001.

Meghan Scott (Cracraft)

Meghan Scott was part of a team that put Georgetown College women's soccer on the national map during her career from 2002-05. She was a key piece in leading the Tigers to a 49-20 regular season record. She was named to the Mid-South All-Conference team all 4 years at Georgetown. She also earned NAIA Third Team All-American honors in 2004 and NAIA Honorable Mention All-American in 2005. After earning her Bachelor's Degree from Georgetown, Meghan enrolled at Eastern Kentucky University, where she earned a Master's Degree in Public Health.

Greg Menetrey

Greg was a running back for the Georgetown College football team from 1995-98 and was a key piece in establishing Georgetown's dominance in the newly formed Mid-South Conference. The Tigers won the conference title in 1998, setting the stage for a run of 8 straight titles to follow. He stayed in Georgetown as the running backs coach for the 1999 season, helping lead the Tigers to the national title game and an offense that averaged 50.7 PPG, 2nd most in school history.

Robert McLeod

Robert was the ace of the Georgetown College baseball pitching staff during his 4 seasons from 1966-69. He compiled a career record of 18-5 at Georgetown, while throwing two no-hitters and being named a NAIA Honorable Mention All-American all four years. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 25th round of the 1968 MLB Draft, but elected to return to Georgetown for his senior year. In 1969, he was selected by the New York Mets in the 7th round and spent 3 seasons in the Mets minor league organization before retiring due to injury and after compiling an 18-13 record.

Coach Inductee - Bruce Owens

Coach Bruce Owens spent 27 seasons as an assistant coach with Georgetown football. In that time he was part of 18 conference championships, 40 NAIA playoff games, 5 National Championship game appearances, and 3 National Championships (1991, 2000, 2001). He coached multiple NAIA All-Americans, dozens of All-Conference players, and 4 NAIA All-American Scholar Athletes. In his time, the program amassed an overall record of 228-58.

Team Inductee - 1995-96 Men's Basketball

The 1995-96 men's basketball team was led by NAIA and Georgetown College Hall of Fame Head Coach Jim Reid, along with Georgetown Hall of Fame coach Happy Osborne as his top assistant. The Tigers finished the season with a 36-3 record and an appearance in the NAIA National Championship. Coach Reid was named NAIA National Coach of the Year. On the court, the Tigers were led by Shannon Hoskins, David Shee, Johnny Ray Williams, Jermaine Brown, and Todd Cox. All 5 players have since been individually inducted into the Georgetown College Athletics Hall of Fame.

Special Awards

2022 Distinguished Alumni - Ron Ream

Ron Ream was a four-year letterman in football and baseball at Georgetown College from 1966-1970. He was named to the All-Region team in both sports his senior year. After graduating from Georgetown, Ron went on to an illustrious coaching career in both football and baseball, most notably at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida. He won over 200 games as coach in both sports, while serving as Athletic Director at the school from 1981-2010. In 2000, Ron was inducted into the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame. In 2015, he was inducted into the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

2022 Trailblazer Inductees - Herbert Kays, Charles Bruce Daniel, Gerald Houston

Herbert Kays

Herbert Kays was recruited out of high school by Adolph Rupp to play basketball at the University of Kentucky, but opted to attend Tulane University, where was he in the starting lineup during his tenure there. He was later recruited to Georgetown College where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball, tennis and golf. Herbert continued his athletic ventures beyond his graduation in 1961 and was later inducted into the Kentucky Tennis Hall of Fame.

Charles Bruce Daniel

Charles Bruce Daniel was a letterman in football, basketball, baseball, tennis, and track during his time at Georgetown from 1922-1925. In 1934, he became principal, teacher, and head football coach in the Shelbyville, KY school system. His teams in the 30's and 40's were renowned throughout the Commonwealth. In 1939, the new football field in Shelbyville was named in his honor.

Gerald Houston

Gerald Houston was a starter on offense & defense for the Georgetown football program in the mid-1960s. From 1964-66, he was named to the All-South Team. Gerald was described by many of his teammates as the hardest worker in the program. He also met his wife, Becky, while completing his degree at Georgetown, and together, they have 3 children: Beth, Kate, and Charlie.

2022 Milton "Shorty" Price Service Award - Jason Snider

Jason serves as Assistant Provost for Curriculum and Inclusion & Registrar at Georgetown College. He has played a significant role in academic support and eligibility verification for student-athletes. In recent years, Jason has played a major role in the lives of Georgetown's international student-athletes. Whether it is picking up student-athletes from the airport, handling medical insurance, faciliating care and anything in between, the athletic department would not run as smoothly as it does without Jason's tireless efforts.

2022 Donna Hawkins Coaching for Significance Award - Jon Brinkerhoff

Jon was a huge asset to both the men's & women's volleyball programs during the 2021-22 season. Jon started his coaching tenure at Georgetown with the newly formed men's volleyball team in 2020-21. He has been instrumental in the team's success by helping lead the program to consecutive NAIA national tournament appearances. He has excelled for both programs and was named Mid-South Conference Assistant Coach of the Year.

2022 Brad Davis Game Administration Award - Rachel Puckett, Isaac Sullivan, Bethany Blair, Carmen Lazaro

During the 2022 Spring semester, the Department of Athletics was presented with a unique challenge following the departure of its Sports Information Director. Four current GC students stepped up to execute the essential sports information functions under the direction of Associate Director of Athletics, Austin Sparks. These 4 students handled everything from scheduling student workers for games, stats, social media, to running video broadcasts. Athletics administration, coaches, and student-athletes are forever grateful to these students for their leadership and professionalism through a challenging time.
