Tigers Take Three of Four off Trailblazers
CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – The Georgetown College baseball team (16-32, 4-14 MSC) won three of four games against Ohio Christian University (17-23) at Olson Field on Friday and Saturday.
Georgetown beat Ohio Christian 5-0 in the series opener before the Tigers took game two, 10-3.
On Saturday, game three went to Georgetown 12-1 before the Trailblazers won 6-3 in the finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
Sam Turilli and Aidan Jbara singled in runs in the top of the first to get things started for Georgetown. The Tigers plated two more runs in the third. With two outs, back-to-back errors by the pitcher and then shortstop, the Tigers took a 4-0 lead. Luis Romero finished up the scoring in the sixth with a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in Davis Johnson.

* Diondre Jacob was 3-4 with a run scored.
* Aidan Jbara went 1-2 with two RBIs and two walks.
* Alec Krogel (3-5) picked up the win, throwing 6.0 innings, striking out three, allowing just two hits in a shutout.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
In game two, the Tigers scored three in the top of the second inning. The first five Tigers reached base safely as Hunter Hampton and Nathan Odaira connected for RBI singles. With one gone, Davis Johnson hit another RBI single to make it a 3-0 game. The Trailblazers received two RBI doubles in the bottom of the third and then tied the game in the fourth with a single. Georgetown broke the game open in the sixth, though. An error, as well as an Elijah Verge two-run double, made it a 6-3 game. The Tigers added four runs in the seventh to win 10-3.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME TWO
* Elijah Verge was 3-5 with two RBIs.
* Luis Romero went 3-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.
* Nathan Odaira was 2-4 with two RBIs.
* Ashton Deskins (5-3) picked up the win, tossing 4.1 innings of relief ball, allowing four hits while striking out three and allowing one run.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME THREE
Game three tilted towards Georgetown early. A three-run first inning was all the Tigers needed as Luis Romero doubled in a run while Aidan Jbara singled in another. With one gone in the top of the second, Oakland Flodell hit a solo shot to make it 4-0. The Trailblazers got their only run of the game in the bottom of the second behind an RBI single. Romero led the third off with a solo home run before Georgetown exploded for a seven-run fourth inning. Elijah Verge and Davis Johnson both hit run-scoring doubles before Romero hit his second bomb of the day. Joshua Hamilton doubled in the final two runs to help the Tigers to a 12-1 win.

* Luis Romero was 3-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored.
* Oakland Flodell went 2-2 with an RBI, a walk and two runs scored.
* Davis Johnson was 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
* Abel Ramos (1-1) picked up the win, tossing 3.0 innings, allowing one run off three hits while striking out three.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME FOUR
Despite scoring the first three runs of the series finale, the Tigers fell 6-3. Davis Johnson singled in a run in the first while Hunter Hampton doubled in another in the second as the Trailblazers tallied one in both the second and fourth before a four-run six-inning gave the hosts the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME FOUR
* Davis Johnson was 1-2 with an RBI.
* Luis Romero went 1-3 with a run scored.
* Julien Mendoza was 1-2 with a run scored and a walk.
* Zach Mariani (0-2) took the loss, tossing 1.1 innings of relief. He gave up two runs off two hits while striking out one.
UP NEXT
The Tigers move on to the Mid-South Conference tournament as the No. 7-seed at Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The tournament runs from April 28 to May 2, with the Tigers taking on the No. 6-seed Bethel University in a one-game elimination game on April 28, with first pitch time TBD.
