Tigers Take Finale off Racers
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College baseball team (6-7) played its first true home series against Northwestern Ohio at Robert N. Wilson Field on Saturday and Sunday.
Northwestern Ohio took down Georgetown in the opener, 15-12, on Saturday afternoon before the Racers beat the Tigers 11-8 to close the day.
On Sunday, Northwestern Ohio won game three 12-2 and the Tigers took the finale 6-4 to wrap up the four-game set.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
Offense was aplenty in the opener as there were just two total half innings to not feature a runner touching home. UNOH plated three in the top of the first, which Georgetown countered with a pair of runs off an Elijah Verge two-run single. The Racers scored five in the second on five straight at-bats before the Tigers used a fielder's choice to get one back in the home half. Both sides score three runs in the third while the Racers tacked on three more in the fourth. Georgetown's quiet inning was the fourth, before two in the fifth and five more in the sixth. UNOH closed things out in the seventh with a two-spot, closing out the game, 15-12.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME ONE
* Elijah Verge went 3-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
* Nathan Odaira was 3-4 with a run scored and three RBIs.
* Aidan Jbara went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
* Chris Lenocker (1-2) started and went 2.0 innings, allowing three runs in the loss. He gave up nine hits and struck out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Originally scheduled for nine innings, it took 12 to complete game two. Neither side scored through three innings complete before a sacrifice bunt ended the drought in the fourth for UNOH. Georgetown plated two in the fourth off an Oakland Flodell homer and a passed ball. The Racers scored in each of the next three frames but trailed 8-6 through seven innings complete. UNOH sent the game to extras with a two-run ninth. A one-out double brought in one run before an RBI single tied things at 8-8. Just two over the minimum reached in the next two innings before the Racers closed things in the twelfth. The first two reached base to start things, and a sacrifice bunt put two in scoring position. A fielder's choice and a two-run single closed the scoring as the Racers went on to win 11-8.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME TWO
* Davis Johnson was 3-6 with two RBIs.
* Nathan Odaira went 1-5 with a run scored, RBI, and a walk.
* Hunter Hampton was 1-4 with two RBIs.
* Zach Mariani (0-1) took the loss, tossing 3.0 innings of relief, allowing three earned runs off one hit while striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME THREE
Game three went to the Racers, whose bats once again came alive. Two home runs in the second gave the visitors the early lead, which they held the rest of the way. Despite a Nathan Odaira RBI in the bottom of the second, UNOH poured in one run in the fourth, three more in the fifth, and one more in the sixth before Georgetown scored again. Aidan Jbara singled to center field to bring in the final run of the day for the Tigers, who fell 12-2.

* Alec Krogel (1-1) went 5.0 innings, allowing seven runs off nine hits while striking out three.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME FOUR
Just three hits marked the opening two innings of the series finale before the visitors poked ahead in the third. A double and an error put runners on the corners before a groundout brought in the first run. Diondre Jacob got things level in the fourth with a single to center field. Georgetown added three runs in the fifth behind a Luis Romero two-run single to center and a sacrifice fly to right field. Two more touched home in the sixth for Georgetown when Romero sent a double to right field to bring in Henry Cruz and Aidan Jbara. Despite allowing two runs in the top of the eighth and one more in the ninth, the Tigers went on to win 6-4.

* Henry Cruz went 2-3 with two runs scored.
* Elijah Verge was 2-3 with a walk and a run scored.
* Sam Turilli (1-0) tossed a complete game, allowing three runs off seven hits with seven strikeouts.
