No. 6 Patriots Sweep Tigers
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College baseball team (8-17, 1-5 MSC) hosted No. 6 Cumberlands (22-5, 6-0 MSC) for its first home Mid-South Conference series on Friday and Saturday at Robert N. Wilson Field.
On Friday, the Patriots took down the Tigers, 10-0 in a nine-inning game.
On Saturday, Cumberlands won the first game 8-2, and the Patriots claimed the series finale 17-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
The Patriots used a lead-off walk and a single to score the game's first run in the top of the first. Both sides were hitless in the second before Cumberlands plated three in the third. This time, a sacrifice fly followed by another RBI single brought in runs before the final was scored off an error by the third baseman. A double in the fourth, followed by run-scoring singles in both the sixth and seventh, made it a 7-0 game. Cumberlands tacked on three more runs in the ninth to win the opener, 10-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME ONE
* Davis Johnson went 1-4 at the top of the lineup.
* Aidan Jbara was 1-3 with a walk.
* Sam Turilli went 1-3.
* Nathan Beaven (0-3) took the loss, going 4.0 innings. He gave up five runs on five hits with a strikeout and two walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Just one hit marked the first full three innings of this one before the Patriots broke through in the fourth. Two singles followed by a double broke the scoring drought before an error and a groundout brought in two more runs. The Tigers scored their only two runs of the day in the bottom half of the fourth when RBI singles off the bat of Elijah Verge and Henry Cruz made it a 3-2 game. Cumberlands pushed things to 6-2 in the fifth behind an RBI single and a two-run homer. Another two-run bomb concluded the scoring in the seventh as the visitors took game two, 8-2.

* Elijah Verge was 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
* Davis Johnson went 1-3 with a run scored.
* Henry Cruz was 1-3 with an RBI.
* Chris Lenocker (1-6) took the loss, tossing 6.0 innings, allowing eight runs off 10 hits while striking out four.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME THREE
Game three got out of hand quickly. The only frame in which Cumberlands did not score was the first, as the Patriots plated three in the second, third, and fourth innings, respectively. A ground out and a single plated two more in the fifth for Cumberlands, who led 16-0 after a five-run sixth frame. A solo home run in the seventh capped the scoring.

* Zander Smith went 1-1.
* Sam Zeller was 0-0 with two walks.
* Sam Turilli (1-2) took the loss, going 2.2 innings, allowing five runs off four hits while striking out one.
