Tigers Knock off #22 Grenadiers for Fifth Straight Win

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College baseball team (13-31, 4-14 MSC) knocked off No. 22 Indiana Southeast (32-14, 19-5 RSC) at the Koetter Sports Baseball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

Georgetown beat Indiana Southeast, 10-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Diondre Jacob set the tone for the day with a solo blast to left field in the top of the first. The Grenadiers responded with a two-run double in the bottom half of the inning. The IUSE lead held until the fourth when Oakland Flodell sent a ball to right center field to score two. Georgetown added four runs in the top of the fifth, to lead 7-2. A wild pitch scored the first run before an error by the third baseman brought in the next. Julien Mendoza singled in the next pair of runs. A quiet sixth inning ensued before the hosts tacked on five runs in the bottom of the seventh. Back-to-back home runs capped the frame for the Grenadiers whose lead slowly slipped away. The Tigers got one run back in the eighth off a Jacob single to left. Down a run in the top of the ninth, though the Tigers rallied. A leadoff triple followed by a single tied things up at 9-9 before a sacrifice fly off the bat of Flodell gave the visitors a 10-9 lead. Runners advanced to second and third with two away in the bottom of the ninth before Ashton Deskins recorded his third strikeout of the inning to help Georgetown to victory.
