(RV) Peru State's Sharp Shooting Downs No. 3 Tigers

PARKVILLE, Mo. – The No. 3 Georgetown College men's basketball team (1-2) fell 84-68 to (RV) Peru State (3-1), continuing play in the Remy Williams Memorial Invitational in the Breckon Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After surrendering the first free throws of the game, the Tigers went on a 10-2 run to take a six-point lead with just under 16 minutes to play in the half. Both sides made layups before back-to-back Bobcat 3-pointers tied the game at 12-12. A couple of 7-0 runs by Peru State tilted things for the Bobcats as their 21-14 lead turned into 31-18 game with 6 and a half minutes to play. Peru State outscored the Tigers 17 to 13 the rest of the way to take a 48-31 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Tigers tried to chip away at the deficit, but every basket seemed to have an answer. After back-to-back baskets from Georgetown near the midway point of the half cut it to a 64-51 game, the Tigers could not push into the deficit any further. Despite a couple of 3-pointers from both Chance Dillingham and Bubba Leavell, the Tigers fell in the end 84-68.

THE TEAM
Georgetown shot 40.3% from the field. The Tigers were 5-22 (22.7%) from deep and shot 5-10 (50.0%) at the free-throw line. PSU won the rebounding battle, 45-28, while the Bobcats also held the assists advantage, 21-13. The Tigers held the edge in steals, 10-3, and blocks, 3-2.
