No. 13 Tigers Cruise to Win over Rams

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The No. 13 Georgetown College men's basketball team (9-2) picked up an 89-68 win over the University of Mobile (7-3) to open "The Show" in the Meadowview Resort on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Scotty Browning got things rolling for the Tigers early, helping Georgetown score on the first of four trips down the floor to command a quick 8-0 lead. After the Rams sank a 3-pointer, a 10-0 run by the Tigers put things out of reach early, as the 18-3 lead was eventually cut into with the Rams' second basket nearly six minutes into the game. A three-minute scoring drought commenced for the Tigers, but defensively, Georgetown made stops to keep a 10-point lead, 20-10. Mobile came as close as seven points, but Georgetown closed the half on a 24-16 run to take a 46-31 advantage at the break.

Browning collected the opening couple of baskets for the Tigers in the second half, who went on to cruise to the 21-point victory. Browning added nine points in the second half while Bishop put up 13 of his team-high 18 points in the final 20 minutes. With 5:28 to go, Bishop put the statement on the victory with a pair of foul shots followed by a slam dunk to give Georgetown the largest lead of the night, 81-53. Down the stretch, Georgetown enjoyed quality looks from Chance Dillingham and Julius Edmonds to extend the lead, going on to win, 89-68.

THE TEAM
Georgetown shot 55.7% from the field. The Tigers were 15-32 (46.9%) from deep and shot 6-15 (40.0%) at the free-throw line. GC won the rebounding battle 42-31, while the Tigers also held the assists advantage, 21-9. The Rams produced more steals, 10-6.
