No. 15 Tigers Sink Campbellsville on Senior Day

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The No. 15 Georgetown College men's basketball team (22-6, 8-4 MSC) won 76-61 over Campbellsville University (18-10, 3-9 MSC) on Senior Day in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Saturday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
After an administrative technical gave Campbellsville the first point of the evening, Georgetown stormed out of the gates, hitting 3-pointers on five of its first six made baskets to command a 17-11 lead at the first media timeout. Campbellsville began cutting into the deficit, but the Tigers continued their sharp-shooting from distance to maintain the lead. Georgetown opened up a 10-point lead with just over four minutes to play in the half before Campbellsville closed in once again. CU made it a one-possession game and even tied things up at 34-34 with just 39 seconds in the half. Scotty Browning was fouled from beyond the arc and sank all three foul shots to push Georgetown ahead 37-34 at the break.

To start the second half, the Tigers raced out of the gates once again and had built up a 47-37 advantage by the first media timeout. The second half belonged to Isaiah Mason, who scored 15 of his game-high 19 points in the half to help boost the Tigers to victory. Campbellsville went on to get as close as seven points the rest of the night as Georgetown held on for the 76-61 win to secure the number two seed in the Mid-South Conference tournament.

THE TEAM 
Georgetown shot 41.3% from the field. The Tigers were 9-25 (36.0%) from deep and shot 15-15 (88.2%) at the free-throw line. GC won the rebounding battle 42-31, while the Tigers also led in assists, 8-5. GC produced seven steals to CU's four.

THE PLAYERS
Isaiah Mason scored a team-high 19 points and had 13 rebounds with two assists.
Scotty Browning added 15 points off the bench with four rebounds and an assist.
Bubba Leavell finished with  14 points, a rebound, and a steal.

UP NEXT
The Tigers are locked into the number two seed for the Mid-South Conference tournament, which is set to begin on February 28 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Georgetown takes seventh-seeded Bethel in the opening round at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
