Men's Golf dominates Georgetown Invite
Men's Golf started off the fall campaign with a resounding win in the home invitational played at Cherry Blossom on Monday and Tuesday.
The Tigers shot a combined score of 585 over the 36-hole competition to finish at +9 overall. The result proved 13 strokes better than any of the 4 other teams competing in the event. West Virginia Tech finished 2nd at +22.
Carter Zutterman began his season with a 75 on Monday but followed up with a stellar 69 on Tuesday to finish at even par for the tournament to clinch a share of the individual title. Zutterman carried birdies on 4, 5, 9, 13, and 14 to clinch the title.
He was one of 4 Tigers in the top 9 for the tournament. Christian Clements and Seth Shelley were spectacular in their Georgetown debuts. The duo each shot +1 for the tournament to finish tied for 3rd. Veteran Laine Schulten also brought home a top-10 finish by shooting +7 to place 9th.
Evan Coffey finished the tourney at +11, good for 15th place. Ethan Kleier had a tough 2nd day with an 83 but still finished in 18th place. Connor Smith and Dawson Lamb placed 23rd and 24th respectively.
The Tigers will look to continue the momentum next weekend in London, KY at the Patriot Invite, hosted by Cumberlands.
