Clements Ties for 1st, Tigers Finish 2nd at Roger Merb Invitational
MCDERMOTT, Ohio – The Georgetown College men's golf team finished second at the Roger Merb Invitational hosted by Shawnee State on Elks Country Club on Tuesday.
Christian Clements led the Tigers with a 73-66=139 on the tournament, moving up eight spots after day one to finish in a tie for first after 36 holes. In a playoff, Clements just missed earning the tournament individual medalist, falling to Alvaro Iglesias of West Virginia Tech.

CHRISTIAN CLEMENTS
On day one, Clements collected consecutive birdies on the front-9 to help sure up his scorecard to even. Had one birdie on the back-9 and finished the round at a one-over 73. On day two, Clements shot five-under on the front-9, including an eagle on hole two. He carded six more birdies to drop his score to 66 for round two.
LAINE SCHULTEN
Schulten shot an even 72 in the first round. He carded birdies on five holes in total, including three on the way in. In the second round, he collected three birdies and remained in the top-10 with a two-over 74.
CARTER ZUTTERMAN
Zutterman enjoyed a two-over 74 in the opening round, highlighted by birdies on holes two and 16. In the second round, he added four birdies and remained in the top-15 with a three-over 75.
MACK KING
King produced a 74 in the opening round behind five birdies in total. He birdies holes one through three to start his front-9. Turned in a 33 in the front-9 after another birdie on hole eight. On day two, King produced two birdies and shot just one-over on the back-9 to finish with a 76.
EVAN COFFEY
In the opening round, Coffey collected birdies on holes nine and 12 before turning in a card of 78. He shot just two-over on the back-9. For round two, Coffey had one birdie on hole 11 and shot two-over on both the front and back-9's for a 76.
BENNETT MYERS
Competing as an individual, Myers collected a 76 in the opening round behind a birdie on 9 and 11. Myers shot even on the front-9 in round two, with a birdie on hole two. He finished the day with a 75 by shooting three-over on the back-9.
UP NEXT
The Tigers have next week off before traveling to Old Hickory, Tennessee, on October 6-7 for the Music City Invitational. The Cumberland University-hosted tournament is being played at the Hermitage Golf Course.
