Louis Jones named Men's Soccer Head Coach

Georgetown Athletics has hired Louis Jones as the school’s new men’s soccer head coach. He takes over for John Manga, who departed in May for another opportunity.

Jones comes to Georgetown after serving as head coach at Campbellsville-Harrodsburg for the 2024 season. Prior to 2024, he served as an assistant women’s coach at Midway University and Asbury University, dating back to 2020. Jones also brings a wealth of youth experience, having served as head coach of the boys’ and girls’ teams at East Jessamine High School.

Jones spoke about the opportunity at Georgetown. “I’m incredibly excited and honored to lead the Georgetown Tigers Men’s Soccer Program! This is a special opportunity, and I’m ready to get to work alongside our student-athletes as we build something strong, competitive, and lasting. We’re coming into the Mid-South Conference with energy, focus, and a drive to compete at the highest level. Let’s get to it… Go Tigers!”

At Georgetown, Jones inherits a team that posted an overall record of 8-7-2 in 2024 and was among the conference and national leaders in several offensive categories. The team also posted strong work in the classroom with 10 Tigers named to the Mid-South Conference All-Academic Team and 26 named to the Spring 2025 AD Honor Roll.

Vice President for Athletics, Chris Oliver, shared his enthusiasm for the hire. “I’m very excited to be able to introduce Louis Jones as our new Men’s Soccer Head Coach.  Our opportunity drew a number of highly qualified candidates, and Coach Jones comes with strong recommendations not only for his abilities as a coach on the field, but also for his commitment to character and personal development,” Oliver said. “His unique background, career path, and growth through multiple levels of coaching will be a real asset for our student-athletes and how he oversees our program.  In addition, his connections and experience within our footprint will help us continue to develop our recruiting strategies both domestically and internationally.  I look forward to working together with Louis and watching him continue to strengthen the Tiger Men’s Soccer program.”

Jones holds NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 1, 2 and 3 diplomas along with a USSF National C License. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Coaching and Sports Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands and is working towards a Master’s Degree in Sport Management at Campbellsville University. He is married with 1 daughter.

Jones will now focus on completing the 2025 schedule and recruiting class. Announcements on both will come later in the summer.
