COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Georgetown College men's soccer team (1-4-1, 0-1 MSC) began Mid-South Conference play with a 6-0 loss to No. 7 Lindsey Wilson University (6-0-1, 1-0 MSC) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Tuesday night.
THE MATCH
The No. 7-ranked Blue Raiders lived up to their billing on Tuesday as the hosts quickly set the tone for the match early. The first shot seen by starting keeper Simon Heine was registered just 31 seconds into the match. In fact, Heine saw six shots in the opening 20 minutes of play before the Tigers took their first. The Blue Raiders got their first goal of the night when Dominic Ayella struck in the 22nd minute. Ayella bagged a brace just five minutes later when he was serviced a ball from Juliano Manfro to make things 2-0. Manfro later scored just before halftime to make it a 3-0 contest heading into the break. The Tigers were outshot 17-2 in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, the Blue Raiders did not let up. Goals were bagged in the 78th, 83rd, and 87th minutes by Lindsey Wilson. Ayella finished a hat trick in the 78th, while two new goal scorers followed. Renny Caicedo struck in the 83rd, followed by Denilson Macon to wrap the scoring at 6-0.
