GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College men's soccer team (2-6-1, 0-3 MSC) lost 2-0 to Freed-Hardeman University (9-2-1, 1-2 MSC) at Toyota Stadium on Friday afternoon.
THE MATCH
After a scary start to the match saw one of the Lions' leave the match and grounds due to injury, the game progressed. The Tigers first shot came from Inchun Han in the 8th minute but it was saved. Despite maintaining decent possession and creating more opportunities in the opening 45 minutes, the Tigers could not find the desired goal. At halftime, Georgetown led 7-4 in shots.
In the second half, the temperature was turned up. The scoring started in the 50th minute when Samuel Sebagabo scored his third goal of the season. The chippiness set in from there. As the minutes waged on, the match turned more and more physical. In the 62nd, Roberto Saer was shown a straight red card after a strong tackle from behind set up a free kick for the Lions. After Saer was sent off, the Lions tacked on their second goal of the day in the 65th minute. Leading 2-0, Freed-Hardeman settled into a rhythm and played a much more relaxed pace. The final caution of the game came in the 69th minute when Daniel Saer was shown a yellow. Despite 11 second-half shots, the Tigers fell, 2-0.
