No. 4 Campbellsville Holds Off (RV) Tigers in Four

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College men's volleyball team (11-7, 6-2 RSC) lost on the road to No. 4 Campbellsville (20-1, 8-1 RSC) on Saturday afternoon in Gosser Gymnasium.

Campbellsville defeated Georgetown in four sets: 20-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-19.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A highly competitive first set saw four lead changes through the opening 10 points. Georgetown strung together a 4-1 run to lead 9-6 in the early goings before Campbellsville fought back to tie things at 16-16. From there, though, the Tigers rattled off six of the next eight points to establish a 22-18 lead. A pair of attack errors closed things out, 25-20 in favor of Georgetown.

The second set started off back-and-forth as well, with Campbellsville securing a 13-10 lead. Things shifted from there, though, as the hosts used a 6-0 run to put the set out of reach, 19-11. Georgetown dropped the second, 25-16.

Georgetown held early leads in the third set as well before Campbellsville clamped down on both sides of the ball. This time, a 4-0 spurt gave the hosts the separation they needed for the rest of the set. Despite a Santino Zucchiatti kill, making it a 17-15 game, Campbellsville rattled off eight of the next nine points to win 25-16.

The fourth set saw Georgetown hold a lead on four different occasions and fight from behind when trailing. Down three at the 17-14 mark, Georgetown rattled off a 5-1 run to capture a 19-18 lead. A 7-0 run ended things, though as Campbellsville claimed the fourth, 25-19.

THE TEAM
Georgetown hit .144 as a squad, with CU earning a .324 mark. The Tigers had 36 kills and 36 assists. Georgetown collected three service aces and 30 digs.  

THE PLAYERS
Kristjan Unt produced a team-high 13 kills with four digs and a service ace.
Michal Bak had six kills with five digs and two block assists.
Santino Zucchiatti also added six kills to go with four block assists.

UP NEXT
The Tigers return home to host Oakland City University (14-6, 5-3 RSC) on Tuesday, March 24.
