Nanpuya Wins 184, James Second in 197 as Tigers Finish Missouri Valley Invite 12th
MARSHALL, Mo. – The Georgetown College men's wrestling team finished 12th at the Missouri Valley Invite with Navarro Nanpuya winning the 184 class and Marcus James finishing second in 197 in Burns Athletic Complex on Friday and Saturday.
In total, 20 of the top 25 teams participated in the Missouri Valley Invite
Navarro Nanpuya went an undefeated 6-0 in the tournament, defeating Grand View's Thomas Even in the 184-championship match. On Friday, Nanpuya took down both the No. 10 and No. 21-ranked wrestlers to put himself in position to win the class.
No. 17 Marcus James finished the invite with a 5-1 record, falling in the championship match to the No. 7-ranked wrestler, Kasten Grape. James also knocked off the No. 21-ranked wrestler in 197 en route to the championship bout.
Doug Dittmer finished seventh in the 184 class while Luke Cox was seventh in the heavyweights. Dittmer went 5-2 in the tournament while Cox was also 5-2. Cox picked up two ranked wins over No. 14 Shane Mattson and No. 25 Caleb Pruitt, both by decision.
Leland Reeves went 4-2 on the tournament, making the round of 12. Reeves also beat a ranked opponent in No. 24 Josiah Fernandez of Keiser by a major decision.
