Tigers Roll over Dragons in Season Opener
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's basketball team (1-0) opened its 2025-26 season with a 102-46 win over Virginia-Lynchburg (0-1) in its first game played in the newly renovated Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgetown's offense came out firing on all cylinders from the jump. Six different players scored in the opening frame, in which the Tigers led 22-7 after the first 10 minutes.
In the second quarter, the Tigers really began to put the game out of reach. Daysha Reid connected for two 3-pointers in the frame while Addesa Miller added four to give the Tigers a 23-point frame. At halftime, it was Daisy Gale leading the way with 12 points and five rebounds.
The third quarter featured the most offense of the night. The Tigers added 33 points to the scoreboard behind eight points apiece from Reid and Miller, while the Dragons scored 18 points of their own. Georgetown took a 77-36 lead into the fourth quarter.
The final 10 minutes saw the Tigers' offense once again rolling. Miller poured in her final eight points, and Kayra Freeman matched her with eight of 20 points in the fourth to help Georgetown to the win. The Tigers went on to eclipse the century mark and win, 102-46.
THE TEAM
Georgetown shot 43.4% from the field. The Tigers were 15-41 (36.6%) from deep and shot an efficient 15-17 (88.2%) at the free-throw line. GC won the rebound battle, 45-40. The Tigers led in assists, 18-2, and had the only block of the game. GC had 15 steals to Lynchburg's seven.
THE PLAYERS
* Addesa Miller offered up a team-high 23 points on 5-of-11 shooting from 3-point range with three steals.
* Kayra Freeman added 20 points with five rebounds and a pair of steals.
* Daisy Gale scored 16 points and pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.

The Tigers host Simmons College (0-0) tomorrow afternoon in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym to close the weekend.
