No. 2 Freed-Hardeman Stops (RV) Tigers

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's basketball team (16-5, 1-4 MSC) took an 89-61 loss to No. 2 Freed-Hardeman University (20-1, 5-1 MSC) in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgetown came out ready to fire the three ball and sank its opening two of the night. Kayra Freeman opened the scoring followed by a Daisy Gale long shot in the opening two minutes. The Lions' size and physicality took over from there, though. A 6-0 run tilted things FHU's way, a lead it would never surrender. In the closing minutes of the first, the Tigers rallied to cut it to a 23-21 game.

The second quarter brought a 9-0 run for the Lions to stretch the visitors lead to 32-21. After Daysha Reid's basket at the 5:51 mark made it a 10-point game, the Lions poured it on once again. This time FHU used a 5-0 run to recapture the momentum. Georgetown faced a 46-30 halftime deficit.

Out of the locker room, both sides traded baskets in the early stages of the third quarter. FHU continued its quality shooting from the field, banking nine shots in the third quarter, two of which were 3-pointers. FHU scored 22 points in the third to take a 68-45 lead into the fourth.

In the fourth quarter, four Tigers played all 10 minutes as Ashley Rojas got in for the final five minutes of the game. Rojas sank a pair of 3-pointers to lead the Tigers in the fourth, but the Lions held on for the 89-61 win.

THE TEAM
Georgetown shot 36.7% from the field. The Tigers were 8-31 (25.8%) from deep and were 9-12 (75.0%) at the free-throw line. GC was outrebounded by FHU, 44-23. The Lions also led in assists, 13-9, while turning away one more shot, 3-2. Both sides created six steals.
