No. 24 Blue Raiders Finish Off (RV) Tigers

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's basketball team (17-6, 2-5 MSC) fell 80-61 to No. 24 Lindsey Wilson University (18-4, 5-2 MSC) in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Monday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgetown fell into a 7-0 hole in the opening two and a half minutes and had its work cut out for it in the first. Daisy Gale, the MSC Player of the Week, broke the scoring drought out of the timeout. Just two minutes later, it was a one-possession game after Anna Long sank a jumper at the 5:55 mark. Jordan Day's free throw at the 4:26 mark made it a one-point game, but the Blue Raiders held a 22-16 advantage after the first.

The first six points of the second quarter went to Lindsey Wilson, with the Tigers falling into a 28-16 hole. Gale once again scored first for Georgetown, who had cut into the deficit by the end of the period, making it just an eight-point ball game. Gale hit the final two foul shots of the half to make it a 40-32 game.

Kayra Freeman made a 3-pointer to begin the third quarter, and Georgetown had made it a 46-43 game just over three and a half minutes into the frame. Despite their best punch, Lindsey Wilson absorbed the Tigers' push to close in on the deficit. Freeman scored the last basket of the period, and it was 58-51 game heading into the fourth.

The fourth started with three straight successful free throws for Georgetown, but the four-point deficit was as close as it would get the rest of the way. By the media timeout in the fourth, Lindsey Wilson commanded a 64-54 lead and went on to win, 80-61.

Georgetown shot 33.3% from the field. The Tigers were 4-17 (23.5%) from deep and were an efficient 17-19 (89.5%) at the free-throw line. GC was outrebounded by LWU, 41-34. The Blue Raiders also led in assists, 8-6, while the Tigers had more steals, 7-6.
