(RV) Tigers Complete Season Sweep of (RV) Phoenix

LEBANON, Tenn. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's basketball team (19-7, 4-6 MSC) picked up a 79-68 road win over (RV) Cumberland (15-11, 1-9 MSC) in Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena on Saturday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Daysha Reid opened the scoring for the Tigers, who heavily relied on Reid in the first. Reid collected a team-high nine points in the first, helping Georgetown out of as many as an eight-point deficit. Reid's jumper just inside two minutes and subsequent 3-point shot tied things at 18-18 before Kayra Freeman's jumper with two seconds left in the period gave the Tigers the 20-18 lead.

Freeman sank the opening basket of the second quarter, and Reid sank another 3-pointer to stretch Georgetown's lead to seven under 30 seconds into the frame. A 9-0 run by the Phoenix shifted things the hosts' way as Cumberland held a 33-28 lead by the media timeout of the second. The Tigers trailed 41-38 at the break after 3-pointers from Addesa Miller, and Gale kept it a one-possession game.

Georgetown exploded for 22 points in the third quarter, limiting Cumberland to just five made field goals to push ahead 60-53 after three quarters complete. Taylee Woodbury and Gale made 3-pointers to stretch the lead to seven with under a minute to play.

The Phoenix started the fourth on a 5-0 run to make it a one-possession game before the Tiger offense got flowing. Georgetown hit the big and needed shots down the stretch to hold on for the 79-68 win.

THE TEAM 
Georgetown shot 47.5% from the field. The Tigers were 13-27 (48.1%) from deep and were 8-9 (88.9%) at the free-throw line. CU outrebounded GC, 38-32. The Tigers picked up 13 assists, while the Tigers had more steals, 8-6.

THE PLAYERS
Daisy Gale had a team-high 28 points with 10 rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Daysha Reid added 18 points with three assists and a steal.
Kayra Freeman also had double figures with 13 points and four rebounds.

UP NEXT
The Tigers remain on the road to take on No. 13 Lindsey Wilson (21-5, 7-3 MSC) on Thursday, February 19.
