Freeman Claims Mid-South Conference Player of the Week

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Georgetown College women's basketball senior Kayra Freeman was named by the Mid-South Conference as the Offensive Player of the Week the league officed announced on Monday.

Freeman, a senior from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, averaged 18.5 points per game, playing a crucial role in both of the Tigers' two wins this week.

On Thursday, the guard put up a game-high 21 points and essentially ended things in the fourth. The senior had nine straight points and by the end of things Georgetown was ahead 68-59 with 3:53 to play and held on for the 75-62 victory.

On Saturday, her Senior Day, Freeman sank a spinning layup from the left side to push the Tigers ahead with just four seconds to play, winning the game for Georgetown.

Georgetown secured the number five seed in the Mid-South Conference tournament and takes on number four seeded Campbellsville (22-6) in a rematch in the opening round on Friday, February 27 at 3:30 p.m.
