(RV) Bobcats Finish Off (RV) Tigers

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's lacrosse team (0-2) took a 16-4 loss to (RV) St. Thomas (1-1) at AutoNation Field on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening six minutes of play belonged to the Bobcats, who had amassed a quick 4-0 lead before another goal by the hosts made it 5-0 with 6:53 to play. After Georgetown called a timeout, the Tigers quickly rallied for their first goal of the game when Vanessa Owens struck a minute later with 5:55 to play. Georgetown scored two quick goals late in the period to make it a 5-3 game after the opening 15 minutes.

The Bobcats scored a goal in each of the opening three minutes of the second period to take back their five-goal advantage. After a flurry of turnovers, St. Thomas added three more goals in the closing minutes of the half to take an 11-3 lead into the break.

The scoring stalled in the third period as St. Thomas scored one goal a little over a minute and a half in, but managed just two more goals in the period to take a 14-3 lead into the fourth.

Georgetown scored the opening goal of the fourth period, when Lyric Sidney found the back of the net at the 10:49 mark. Despite limiting the Bobcat scoring opportunities, Georgetown did not strike again, falling 16-4.

THE TEAM
Georgetown was outshot 43 to 9, and the Bobcats held a 13-10 advantage in draw controls. The Tigers collected 15 ground balls and made 13 saves. The Tigers were 16-of-34 on clear attempts.

THE PLAYER
* Vanessa Owens scored a pair of goals for Georgetown off three shots. She had one caused turnover.

UP NEXT
The Tigers have 10 days off before returning home to host (RV) Marian University (0-0) on Wednesday, February 25.

First draw is set for 5:00 p.m. against the Knights in Toyota Stadium.
