No. 10 Blue Devils Stop (RV) Tigers
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's lacrosse team (0-4) lost 19-5 to No. 10 Lawrence Tech (1-1) at Toyota Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A goal from both sides highlighted the opening minute as Madison Diaz found the back of the net for the Tigers. After LTU scored again just over a minute later, the equalizer was found by Hailey Voss at the 10:44 mark. Voss scored off a pass from Maggie Byrd. Nearly seven minutes passed before LTU struck again. The Blue Devils commanded a 3-2 lead after the first.
The second quarter saw six goals pass by while the Tigers struck just once. Hailey Voss scored off a free position shot for her second goal of the day at the 10:11 mark to make it a 4-3 game. The final goals of the second all belonged to the Blue Devils, who held a 9-3 lead at halftime.
Voss started the scoring for the Tigers in the third, striking for the final time of the day off a pass from Avery McAlister at the 13:35 mark. Four more goals were scored by Lawrence Tech in the third as the visitors took a 13-4 lead into the fourth.
The fourth opened with a McAlister goal off a free position shot before two straight goals by the Blue Devils started a running clock. Lawrence Tech's scored four more goals to take the game 19-5.
THE TEAM
Georgetown was outshot 42 to 12, while the Blue Devils held a 14-13 advantage in draw controls. The Blue Devils collected 18 ground balls and made 16 saves, while the Tigers had 7 and 17, respectively.
THE PLAYER
* Hailey Voss recorded her second hat-trick, netting goals once again in each of the first three quarters. She also had four draw controls.
UP NEXT
The Tigers host Culver-Stockton (2-2) on Wednesday, March 4.
First draw is set for 5:00 p.m. against the Wildcats in Toyota Stadium.
