(RV) Tigers Knock Off Wildcats For Home Win
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's lacrosse team (1-4) picked up a 17-5 win over Culver-Stockton (2-3) at Toyota Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgetown got on the scoreboard quickly in the opening quarter. Hailey Voss had two of her eight goals within the first six minutes of play, and she finished off the first quarter hat-trick around the five-minute mark. Madison Diaz added an unassisted goal, and the Tigers led 4-0 after the first.
The Wildcats netted their first goal of the night to open the second quarter scoring before Hailey Voss went back to work. Voss netted the opening goal of the second half for Georgetown and went on to score one more goal in the half. Georgetown took a 10-2 advantage into the break as Vanessa Owens (2), Madison Diaz, and Hannah Voss all scored to round off the second.
Owens started the scoring for the Tigers in the third, but it was Avery McAlister's strike that began the running clock for Georgetown. The clock continued to run the rest of the game as the Tigers saw a 14-4 lead going into the fourth.
Four goals marked the fourth quarter, with Georgetown tallying three of them. Madison Diaz scored on the advantage before Hailey Voss found the back of the net for the final time with just over nine minutes to play. Georgetown went on to win 17-5, marking the first career win for starting goalie Kezia Ramos.
THE TEAM
Georgetown had 31 shots to 18 for Culver-Stockton. The Tigers held a 15-10 advantage in draw controls. The Tigers collected 13 ground balls and made eight saves.
THE PLAYER
* Hailey Voss put up a season-high eight goals, scoring in every quarter. She also had three draw controls and a ground ball.
